Porter Woodworks is a boutique furniture and woodworking company based at the foot of the Blue Mountains.

The proprietor, David Porter is a trade qualified Carpenter & Joiner and a licenced builder. He has thirty years plus of trade experience delivering high quality finishes and functional designs that are timeless.

Sustainability of our environment and timber resources is important to us. Much of our timber is sourced from trees felled in the Blue Mountain as a result of storms or approved developments. Instead of being chipped and taken to landfill, the tree is sawn using a portable mill before being stacked to air dry in our yard ready to be transformed into a unique piece of furniture.

Our locally sourced timber species include, Californian Redwood, Chestnut, Himalayan Cedar, Japanese Elm, Sassafras, Silky Oak and Red Bloodwood. Other Australian hardwoods we use are Blackbutt, Spotted Gum, Alpine Ash and Rosewood.

A combination of traditional hand joinery techniques are used together with the latest precision woodworking machinery from Austria. Timber finishes we use are selected to enhance the natural beauty and durability of the timber.
